Barcelona star Lewandowski: Kylian Mbappé is ‘not a striker like me’

Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has on Monday weighed in on the arrival of Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid.

Frontman Mbappé’s long-awaited unveiling as a new Real Madrid player, of course, was forthcoming earlier this month.

After allowing his contract terms with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain to expire, the 25-year-old opted to take his talents to the Spanish capital, for the next five seasons.

As much has seen chatter long begin to spread, regarding the balance of power in La Liga.

With Real Madrid having wrestled back Spanish supremacy last season, and since added to their squad by way of both Mbappé and Endrick, Barcelona could be facing up to a difficult few years to come.

Speaking to the media ahead of the latest edition of El Clásico this coming weekend, the subject of the arrival of Mbappé in La Liga, in turn, was put to the aforementioned Robert Lewandowski.

Choosing to focus on the positives, however, the Polish international assured that:

“For us it is a new motivation, a new season.”

From here, Lewandowski also opened up on why he feels that he and Mbappé should not be compared, owing to their altogether different characteristics:

“I’m not sure that Mbappé is a striker like me. He plays in a different position, and has a different style of football.”
