The concerns of those of a Barcelona persuasion regarding the wellbeing of Iñigo Martínez have on Wednesday been quelled.

This comes after the defender set alarm bells ringing, during the club’s most recent outing.

Barcelona of course marked their return to action last night, welcoming Swiss outfit Young Boys to Catalunya’s capital for a Champions League clash.

When all was said and done, Hansi Flick’s troops emerged dominant victors, by five goals to nil.

And yet, late in proceedings at Montjuïc, there was cause for concern on the part of the evening’s hosts.

After being hooked from the action with what appeared to be some form of muscular discomfort, the aforementioned Iñigo Martínez was spotted in discussion with the Barcelona medical staff, whilst clutching at his lower back.

Concern surrounding a potential injury suffered by the 33-year-old, in turn, quickly spread.

As alluded to above, though, a day on, such fears have been put to bed.

As per a report from Jijantes, Iñigo was present at The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper for Barca’s recovery training session this morning.

The former Athletic Club man was diagnosed with little more than an ‘overload’, not even subjected to medical scans as a result.

He is in turn expected to be fit and available to feature from the off on Sunday, against Deportivo Alavés.
