Barcelona star hoping to finally break a curse that has plagued him since 2022
FC Barcelona have battled with many injury problems over the last few seasons. This new demanding footballing calendar certainly did not help matters in that regard, and many key figures in the sport have pointed that out as well. However, for Barcelona at least, many injuries led to sporting disappointments that cannot be unturned.
Under Hansi Flick so far, however, the club has not needed to complain about injuries. Thanks to the German coach’s tactical approach and adjustments, the team has managed to hide their shortcomings so far except for a few occasions.
However, there is no doubting the fact that Barcelona would love to have all their players recovered and fit at the same time. Still, while that may not happen anytime soon, the team can still be happy with the players that have recovered and are showing their best versions again.
One such player is undoubtedly Pedri, the 21-year-old Spanish star who has previously brought home the Golden Boy award as well. He has seemingly fully recovered from his last injury and he is once again showing his best version for the club, whether it be against Young Boys in the Champions League or any other game.
His next objective now, however, will be hitting 15 consecutive games for club and country, as highlighted by SPORT. The Spaniard last played so many consecutive games without any hindrances more than two years ago, and he has been unable to reproduce that ever since.
Now, in the upcoming game against Alaves in La Liga, Pedri can make it 13 games in a row for the Catalan giants this season. Then, during the international break, he looks set to play the next two games for Spain and that would help him reach that momentous milestone of 15 consecutive games.
Between September and October of 2022, the youngster played 17 games consecutively, and this month could allow him to surpass that number as long as he stays fit. Fortunately for him, Barcelona have gone above and beyond to make sure that they can provide him with the right help to sort out his medical issues once and for all.
This curse of sorts, one that has not allowed him to overcome too many games without some kind of injury making it’s way to him, is now something that Pedri hopes to leave behind. Barcelona needs him, both as a star player and as a captain now, and the youngster has all the tools at his disposal to be there for his team.
He has barely rested so far this campaign since he got going properly, and the results are there in favor of Barcelona. It has already been well-established that he will be one of the fundamental players for Hansi Flick’s team, and it is about time that he gets to enjoy this level of consistency.
