Barcelona star equals the legendary Ferenc Puskás in record books
A leading member of the attacking ranks on Thursday secured for himself a special piece of football history.
The player in question? Robert Lewandowski.
Frontman Lewandowski was for his part back in action a short time ago, on the international stage.
Fresh off a stellar opening to the campaign with Barcelona, the 36-year-old was afforded a starting berth in Poland’s Nations League meeting with Scotland.
And Lewandowski’s scintillating form in front of goal only continued at Hampden Park.
En route to an eventual 2-2 stalemate at Hampden Park, the former Bayern Munich man laid on his side’s first of the night, before turning goalscorer from the penalty spot just shy of the interval.
In the process, Lewandowski took his career goals tally on the international front to a whopping 84, the same number as was managed by one of football’s most iconic-ever figures.
The player in question? Hungary legend Ferenc Puskás.
