New Barcelona signing could start against Rayo Vallecano
Barcelona are set to take Rayo Vallecano on in the La Liga later today in what will be Hansi Flick’s third game in quick succession. The Catalan club has won both their games so far, both 2-1 wins against Valencia and Athletic Bilbao.
Ahead of the game against Rayo, Barcelona were handed a huge boost with new summer signing Dani Olmo set to be registered for La Liga. The 26-year-old has missed the club’s first two games with the club unable to find space to include him in La Liga’s roster.
Now, as per SPORT, Dani Olmo could be in line for his first start as a Barcelona player on his official debut with Hansi Flick expected to name him in his lineup against Rayo. The report claims that the German coach would bring him in place of Ferran Torres.
Flick has used Ferran as his left winger in the team’s first two games of the campaign with Raphinha operating as a midfielder. Against Rayo, the Brazilian could shift out to the left with Olmo starting as the #10.
Elsewhere, the report expects Flick to name the same line-up that he did against Athletic with Olmo for Ferran being the only expected change. This would mean that Pedri and Bernal are likely to continue as a double pivot against Rayo.
Olmo is a natural #10 unlike Raphinha and could add a new level of attacking dimension to the team. Despite the Brazilian having two impressive performances in his new role, the Spaniard can offer more creativity on the ball.
The ex-RB Leipzig man is also a natural finisher and should get into shooting positions in and around the box. He can also switch with Raphinha during the game as Olmo is also comfortable operating from the left.
The trip to Rayo is likely to give Barcelona fans their first glimpse of Dani Olmo. It’s been a long time coming and let’s hope the 26-year-old can put on a show on debut.
