La Liga giants Barcelona will on Monday move another significant step closer to reinforcing the club’s options between the posts.

This comes amid confirmation that Barca’s leading goalkeeper target is primed to touch down in Catalunya’s capital tomorrow.

The player in question? Wojciech Szczęsny.

The name of free agent Szczęsny has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Barcelona across the week to date.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the 34-year-old had agreed to come out of retirement, to put pen to paper on terms with Hansi Flick’s Blaugrana, following the long-term injury suffered by Marc-André ter Stegen.

Developments towards the transfer’s completion had gone somewhat quiet over recent days, giving rise to concern that some kind of impasse may have been hit during negotiations.

If the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, however, then this does not appear to be the case.

As per Barcelona insider Gerard Romero of Jijantes:

‘The Polish goalkeeper plans to travel to Barcelona tomorrow, to undergo medical tests. The official presentation has not yet been scheduled.’
