The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona are ready to seek out financial aid, to ensure the signing of a leading summer transfer target.

That’s according to Diario Sport, citing Onda Cero, who point towards the help as being required to fund the addition of Nico Williams.

It is of course now common knowledge across Spain that the Barca brass have identified wide-man Williams as the club’s first-choice signing with a view to next season.

As much comes with the 22-year-old considered the perfect profile to fill the gap on the left of new boss Hansi Flick’s frontline.

Negotiations with Nico’s entourage, in turn, have long been kicked into gear.

The problem, however, lies in the sum required to force Athletic Club into a sale.

The explosive attacker’s contract in the Basque Country contains a release clause set at €58 million, which will need to be activated to ensure a transfer.

Amid their ongoing financial woes, Barcelona, to date, have been unable to piece together this amount.

But, as alluded to above, as much could yet be achieved, by way of a loan.

As per Sport:

‘It is time to knock on the doors of the banking institutions again in search of a new loan.’
