Barcelona return to transfer normality not assured despite impending Nike agreement
On Friday, it was reported that Barcelona are set to finally complete their new sponsorship agreement with Nike, which has been in the pipeline for almost the entirety of 2024. This will also allow them to come closer to making their return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule, although rather surprisingly, it won’t take them all the way.
As reported by Sport, Barcelona still won’t be able to align with the 1:1 rule. A few weeks ago, Joan Laporta confirmed that a €60m deficit needed to be made up for transfer normality to be restored, but the new deal with Nike will only allow this to be closed by €10m – this is despite the fact that the club will earn €45m more per season with the new agreement.
Even with the Nike deal, Barcelona still won't return to La Liga's 1:1 spending rule. Other ways have to be explored to register Dani Olmo. @sport

This also means that Barcelona are yet to be able to assure Dani Olmo’s registration for the second half of the season. The big-money summer signing is only on La Liga’s books until the end of 2024, meaning that funds must be found from elsewhere to ensure that he can play in the first half of 2025.
