FC Barcelona continue to give importance to the young players they have both at the senior and youth level. The Catalan club now maintains an understanding that their youth categories are the very reason that they are as sustainable as they are today. As such, they continue to reward the youth of Barcelona.

The likes of Lamine Yamal, Gavi, Alejandro Balde, Pau Cubarsi, and several others have greatly improved the squad’s competitiveness in recent seasons. Thanks to their various ascensions, Barça have been able to remain competitive at the top level despite their financial problems.

Now, the Catalan club continues to reward the promises of tomorrow by showing their faith in them today. Marc Bernal, a talented 17-year-old midfielder from the Barcelona quarry, is among the special few who have been rewarded for their commitment recently.

As pointed out by the official Barcelona website, the young midfielder has now extended his contract with the club until 2026. Despite being a player for the youth categories by his age, the promising defensive midfielder has most recently featured for Barcelona Atletic.

In fact, he was Rafa Marquez’s most trusted option. Thanks to his involvement, the Barcelona B team played some really strong games of football last season and his promise is seen as one that will eventually help the first team out.

Rather poetically, he is currently training with the first team under the orders of new Barcelona coach Hansi Flick. With several first-team players currently being unavailable, either due to vacations or injury, it has paved the way for youngsters such as Bernal to step in and get a chance to impress the coach.

It remains to be seen if he eventually ends up on the plane that will take the first team to their preseason tour to the United States of America, but his talent remains unquestionable. Only time will tell just how quickly he continues to climb the ranks now that he is at Barcelona Atletic as well.
