Barcelona ready to table €70 million offer for Liverpool winger in the summer
Luis Diaz has long been touted as a player of interest for FC Barcelona, with the Catalans having been monitoring the player even before his move to Liverpool.
There were rumours of a possible move last summer when the Blaugrana were looking for a new left-winger, but nothing came of it.
However, heading into the summer of 2025, Barcelona are once again on the lookout for a new left-sided winger and the name of the Colombian international is back on the agenda again.
Indeed, Diaz is one of several options that Barça are considering, along with Rafael Leao (AC Milan) and Nico Williams (Athletic Club).
Barcelona ready to splash €70 million for Luis Diaz
Now, according to Antena 2 in Colombia (h/t SPORT), Barcelona have already communicated to Liverpool their intention to make a significant financial offer for Luis Diaz once the current season concludes.
The report notes that Barça president Joan Laporta is in favour of signing Diaz and is willing to put €70 million on the table. This offer is considered more than sufficient to negotiate with Liverpool for the Colombian winger’s transfer.
It is further suggested that the player himself has informed Liverpool that his desire is to leave the Premier League and begin a new chapter with Barcelona.
In recent months, tentative negotiations have taken place between Diaz and the Reds over a potential contract renewal. However, the two parties are far apart in their positions, and it appears that the situation is heading towards a market transaction.
Diaz, who turned 28 years old earlier this month, has made 27 appearances for Liverpool thus far in 2024/25, scoring 12 and assisting three goals. He has a contract with the club which runs until 2027.
It remains to be seen if Barcelona do push ahead with an offer for Diaz come summer or opt for younger alternatives like Leao or Nico Williams.
