The brass at La Liga leaders Barcelona have come to the decision to appeal the red card handed down to head coach Hansi Flick on Saturday.

Tactician Flick was for his part given his marching orders for the first time since making the move to Spain yesterday evening.

En route to Barcelona’s 2-2 La Liga draw with Real Betis, the German was dismissed midway through the 2nd-half, after protesting against the decision to award a penalty against his side.

As per the referee’s report, Flick was shown a red card ‘for leaving the technical area shouting and gesticulating, protesting one of my decisions’.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle, Barca’s headmaster revealed his take that it was unlikely that the club’s board would opt to launch an appeal against his dismissal:

“I don’t think Barça will present an appeal for my red card. It’s fine.”

If the latest word stemming to have surfaced on Sunday afternoon is anything to go by, however, then this is precisely what the Camp Nou hierarchy have in mind.

As per a report from Helena Condis of COPE:

‘FC Barcelona will appeal the expulsion of Hansi Flick. For the moment the German coach would miss the matches against Leganés and Atlético Madrid.’
