Barcelona proceeding with extreme caution with La Masia jewel’s injury recovery
Barcelona’s young sensation, Lamine Yamal, is set to receive the utmost care from the club after sustaining a recent injury, reports Adria Fernandez in SPORT.
It must be noted that Yamal was ruled out of the match against Real Sociedad due to his condition. The injury, a severe contusion on his right ankle sustained during the Champions League clash against Red Star, has been carefully assessed by Barcelona’s medical staff.
The tests have confirmed a grade 1 syndesmosis injury, which is expected to sideline him for approximately two to three weeks.
Unfortunate for Barcelona
This unfortunate development marked the first time Yamal missed a game for Barcelona due to injury in what has otherwise been a busy season for the young forward, who has played 60 games across club and international duties.
His absence highlights his importance to the team; Barcelona has notably lost both La Liga matches this season where he did not start—against Osasuna and most recently against Real Sociedad.
The timing of Yamal’s injury aligns with the November international break, which limits the number of club games he will miss. Barcelona’s next match is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, against Celta de Vigo.
By then, the two-week recovery window will nearly have concluded, but his availability for this fixture remains uncertain and will depend on how well his ankle heals.
If he needs more time, Yamal may also be absent for the Champions League group stage match against Brest on November 26 and a La Liga game against Las Palmas on November 30.
In a decision that emphasises caution, Barcelona have also confirmed that Yamal will not join the Spanish national team during this break, focusing instead on a full recovery in Barcelona.
With the collective effort of the club’s medical and technical staff, the priority is clear—ensuring Yamal returns to the field fully fit rather than rushing him back prematurely.
