Barcelona president was summoned to the dressing room by players before Saudi trip – report
Barcelona have had to endure a difficult month so far, at least as far as off-field challenges are concerned.
The month started with tension over CSD’s verdict on Dani Olmo and Pau Victor’s registration. issues. Thankfully, the decision came in favour of Barcelona.
But that didn’t stop Joan Laporta from receiving immense flak from supporters for his handling of the situation.
Laporta was summoned to the dressing room
A recent report from Diario SPORT has revealed that Barcelona president Joan Laporta was subjected to mass resentment from his own set of players due to the registration woes of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
As per the report, the sequence of events took place just before the trip to Saudi Arabia, when Laporta was unexpectedly summoned to the dressing room by his players.
The call came after coach Hansi Flick attempted to explain the intricacies of the club’s dealings with LaLiga regarding VIP seat revenues, leaving the squad with more questions than answers.
The players, frustrated by the unfolding events, demanded Laporta’s presence and wanted him to explain what was going on with the club’s finances.
When Laporta arrived at the Ciutat Deportiva, he was met with a pointed question from the players: “Couldn’t you have done this earlier?”
It was a clear expression of their frustration with the timing and management of the situation. Laporta’s response was intricate and somewhat lost on the players, who, by the end, chose not to delve deeper into his explanations about club policies, legalities, and strategies.
Things have gotten slightly better since, with Barcelona being able to register both Olmo and Victor. But the club’s economic situation is still far from perfect and something must change before players across Europe start thinking twice before joining Barça.
