In less than a week, Barcelona new manager Hansi Flick will begin working with the players as pre-season kickstarts on July 10.

The 59-year-old tactician was hired after the end of the last season as Barcelona opted to part ways with club legend Xavi Hernandez.

Flick has signed a two-year contract with the club and has already started working behind the scenes, having met with different department heads and watched Barça Atletic players in action on his last visit to the city.

Now back in the Catalan capital ahead of the pre-season, Flick had another important meeting today.

Flick meets Laporta

Indeed, according to Jijantes (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Hansi Flick held a meeting with Barcelona president Joan Laporta today at the club’s training facilities.

The pre-season starts on July 10 with the medical check-ups of the non-international players and the German coach arrived earlier in Barcelona to have a fresh meeting with club president Laporta.

Hansi Flick arrived at the Ciutat Esportiva accompanied by members of his coaching staff around 10.00 am and a couple of hours later Laporta, Masip and Bojan appeared to meet with the new coach.

Sporting director Deco was not present at the meeting, as he will return to Barcelona in the next few days to define the planning of signings and departures.

Pre-season plans

As mentioned earlier, the pre-season will kickstart on July 10, with only the players currently not involved in international competitions under Hansi Flick’s observation.

The manager, though, will call up a plethora of young talents from the reserve and youth team ranks as the likes of Marc Casado, Marc Bernal, Noah Darvich, Gerard Martin, Angel Alarcon, and Unai Hernandez, among others, will be a part of the pre-season.

In the last week of July, Barcelona will fly to the USA where they are scheduled to play a few pre-season friendlies, including one against arch-rivals Real Madrid.
