Barcelona preparing to close deal on midfield maestro’s renewal
According to Luis Miguelsanz’s report in SPORT, it has come to light that Barcelona are actively working to extend the contract of their star midfielder, Pedri, and make sure his new deal is registered as soon as possible.
Despite the challenges posed by the club’s financial situation, which is currently unable to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor due to the sale of VIP boxes not generating enough revenue, Barcelona have managed to comply with the salary cap regulations.
This has allowed the club to operate in the transfer market once again, and now they are focused on securing Pedri’s future at the club.
Pedri’s renewal is a priority
President Joan Laporta sees Pedri’s renewal as a priority and wants to finalise the agreement soon, aiming to secure the midfielder’s services until 2030.
The contract extension talks are progressing well, with both sides close to an agreement. It is expected that the announcement of this renewal will come in January, now that Deco, the club’s sporting director, has returned from his holidays.
Pedri has become an essential player for Barcelona since overcoming his injury troubles. He is now a regular starter in the midfield, far surpassing other players in his position.
His importance to the team cannot be overstated, and the club views him as a key figure in their long-term plans. With his current contract running until 2026, Barcelona is keen to extend it and ensure his future is secure.
Solving the priority
Before finalising Pedri’s renewal, Barcelona will look to resolve the situations of Olmo and Victor. Their futures at the club need to be settled to maintain squad harmony and ensure there is clarity within the dressing room.
It is expected that decisions on these players will be made soon, and once their futures are sorted, Barcelona will turn their full attention to securing Pedri’s contract extension.
Pedri has always shown his commitment to the club, and his desire to stay at Barcelona remains unchanged.
His contract extension until 2030 will soon be a reality, preventing any uncertainty surrounding his future and reinforcing his importance to the club moving forward.
