There is a clear distinction within FC Barcelona about which players must remain their priority targets. Some players will understandably be a bigger priority than others, and much of the club’s focus will be directed towards such players. However, be that as it may, Barcelona continue to struggle with their own finances.

It is directly due to these financial issues that the club is being forced to let go of another key player in Ilkay Gundogan as well. The recent updates have mainly been all about him and the current Barcelona midfielder could be on his way back to Manchester City on a free transfer this summer.

However, by generating the right salary space and having the right kind of funds to facilitate their wishes, Barcelona would ideally like to sign a certain left-winger from AC Milan named Rafael Leao. Yet, despite their interest in the Portuguese winger, it is clear that the player’s transfer would be quite the expensive ordeal.

That is why it is only natural for the Catalan giants to have some alternatives in mind. According to Mundo Deportivo, these alternatives are low-cost options that would be easier on Barça’s tight budget and could also guarantee quality. The name that is highlighted as being on the top of such a list is that of Federico Chiesa.

Previously, the Italian winger was linked to a potential move to Barça this summer, but it is now being stated by MD that he would only be considered as a secondary option. The priority will be given to Rafael Leao, whose agent Jorge Mendes has a good relationship with Barcelona and could help facilitate a move.

Chiesa, however, would be a much more viable option but Barcelona does not have too many days left to settle his arrival either. In case the option for Leao does not work out, the Italian winger is a strong alternative whose salary would not be too problematic and his agent, Fali Ramadani, has old ties with the Catalan club as well. Moreover, his transfer fee would likely not cross the €15 million mark either.

Apart from Chiesa, there is also the option of Kingsley Coman as well. Comparatively an older option at the age of 28, whereas Chiesa is 26 years old and Leao is only 25, he also offers more experience and time at the top level. However, Barcelona will first look to push for Leao, and only then would they consider the likes of Chiesa and Coman.
