Barcelona midfielder leading Europe’s top-5 leagues in passing category

A series of statistics, highlighting the ongoing excellence of Barcelona star Pedri on the ball, have on Thursday come to the fore online.

Spanish international Pedri has of course enjoyed a superb individual campaign to date.

Having seemingly put his long-standing fitness problems firmly behind him, the 22-year-old has looked back to his brilliant best at the heart of new Blaugrana boss Hansi Flick’s midfield.

Whilst the likes of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal have so often stolen the headlines, many actually feel as though Pedri has been Barcelona’s most consistent performer in 2024/25.

And such a sentiment is certainly backed by the statistics.

This comes amid confirmation on the part of statisticians DataMB that Pedri has racked up more through passes than any other midfielder in Europe’s top-5 leagues this season.

Not only that, but the former Las Palmas talent also leads all La Liga midfielders in the following categories:

• Progressive runs

• Deep completions
