Speaking to GOL (h/t SPORT), Barcelona youngster Pablo Torre has claimed that the Blaugrana could make a real statement by defeating Real Madrid in tonight’s El Clasico.

The first Clasico of the 2024/25 season will kick off in less than 12 hours at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Barça going into the game as league leaders having a three-point advantage over their bitter rivals.

Both teams come into the blockbuster clash with momentum having secured big wins in midweek in the UEFA Champions League.

As such, Torre admits that while Barcelona are playing well, a trip to the Santiago Bernabeu is never easy and that there are no favourites heading into an El Clasico.

“There are no favourites in El Clasico. It’s the best match in the world, and we have to give one hundred per cent to win. We come into this with good momentum, but the match at the Bernabeu will be absolutely crucial,” said the young midfielder.

However, the former Racing Santander starlet went on to acknowledge the enormity of the contest, claiming that a win tonight would be a huge statement from Barcelona.

“It was a difficult week and will continue to be so, and a victory at the Bernabéu would mean a lot to us,” said Torre.

Continuing, he added: “In the end, we would stay top of the table, and I think we could make a real statement. There’s still a long way to go in La Liga, but we need those three points.”

Torre, 21, has found minutes hard to come by, competing with the likes of Pedri, Dani Olmo, Raphinha, and Fermin Lopez for the starting berth.

The youngster did score a brace against Sevilla after coming on as a substitute in his last La Liga appearance but is unlikely to make the starting XI tonight, with Hansi Flick likely to choose one between Olmo and Fermin for the No. 10 slot.
