The last few hours have been a rather mixed time for FC Barcelona fans. Last night, they saw their team get another important victory in La Liga, as they beat Girona in the Catalan derby with a 4-1 scoreline.

However, in this same game, they also saw Dani Olmo getting injured. Detailed tests were carried out on him today, which confirm that the Spaniard will have to spend the next 4-5 weeks on the sidelines.

But this piece of bad news was accompanied by another good news for Barcelona fans. As SPORT has reported, the 27-year-old midfielder Frenkie de Jong has returned to training with his teammates, and he completed a partial training session with the rest of the squad.

This is a big leap forward in the Dutchman’s recovery after his supposedly simple right ankle sprain developed into a mysterious issue that has kept him out of action for the last 146 days. He suffered this sprain in the game against Real Madrid as he clashed with Federico Valverde, but had already faced issues in the same area of foot two times before.

However, he did complete part of the recovery and compensation session led by Hansi Flick this morning. All the available players participated in this session.

Along with Frenkie, Gavi was also one of the players who is recovering from his injury and who also participated in this session. This was the fourth training session for Gavi, who is looking to make his return to pitch in the coming few weeks after having spent the last ten months on the sidelines with a torn ACL and broken meniscus.

Thus, Flick can receive some important reinforcements in the midfield in the coming weeks. The German coach will be particularly looking forward to the return of these players, especially after the departure of Ilkay Gundogan and the long-term injury to Marc Bernal.
