Speaking in an interview with ABC Sevilla (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Barcelona loanee Vitor Roque expressed his happiness at the club after a challenging period at FC Barcelona.

Roque arrived at Barcelona in the winter transfer window of 2024 but hardly played under Xavi Hernandez over the second half of the previous season.

Things did not change for the Brazilian forward under the management of Hansi Flick either and eventually, he was shipped out on loan to Real Betis in the summer transfer window.

Roque ‘very happy’ at Real Betis

Reflecting on his past struggles at Barcelona, Vitor Roque admitted that he and his family were both very happy after his move to Real Betis.

“Here I am very happy. My family, who has gone through tough times, also smiles with me. I spent six or seven months without smiling and went through complicated moments there, but that is all in the past,” he shared.

“I am here and happy. That is the most important thing.”

Currently on loan from Barcelona with a purchase option of €25 million – which could rise to €27.5 million if activated at the end of next season – Roque is hopeful about making Sevilla his long-term home.

“The truth is that it does not depend on me. I really want to play here at Betis. I would like it very much. I have talked to my parents about that. Life here is good, and I would love to play here longer,” he said.

Roque made his mark by scoring during his debut at the Benito Villamarín, netting the second goal in a 2-0 victory against Leganes. However, despite having numerous opportunities since then, he has yet to score again, which naturally weighs on his mind:

“Yes, of course. I am a forward. It does concern me a bit, but I am training and trying to take it naturally. I train to play well and score. But the important thing is not just to score goals but to help the team, which is generating chances,” he insisted.

“I am working towards that. If you have the opportunities, the goals will come one way or another. We have a fantastic team and can compete at the top. Gio (Lo Celso), who is amazing, (Ez) Abde, Pablo (Fornals)… Many can help me.”
