Barcelona leading Real Madrid in race for free agent defender
Barcelona are ahead of arch rivals Real Madrid in the race for Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah.
That’s according to Relevo transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who has on Saturday provided an insight into the situation.
The name of defender Tah has of course positioned itself front and centre in the headlines in Spain over the course of recent weeks.
This comes amid confirmation that the country’s two biggest clubs have set their sights on his signature, with a view to next summer.
Tah is set to become a free agent in 2025, having made clear his intention not to pen fresh terms with the aforementioned Bayer Leverkusen.
And, as alluded to above, over recent weeks, a clear frontrunner has emerged in the race for the 28-year-old’s signature.
As per the aforementioned Relevo, whilst Real Madrid have ‘sounded Tah out’ with a view to next season, Barcelona are currently considered as being ahead of their Clásico rivals in the bidding for the stopper:
‘Barcelona have got the jump on him and can benefit from their excellent relationship with his agent, Pini Zahavi.’
