The respective powers that be at Barcelona and La Liga have been in conversation for a number of weeks now, regarding the structure of the contract intended for a leading Blaugrana summer transfer target.

That’s according to Barca insider Gerard Romero, who points towards Nico Williams as the player in question.

It is of course Spanish football’s worst-kept secret that the brass at the Camp Nou have identified wide-man Williams as a priority addition for the 2024/25 campaign.

Deco and co. consider the 22-year-old – fresh off a scintillating campaign at Euro 2024 – the missing piece from the club’s frontline, where he would link up with close friend Lamine Yamal, and veteran frontman Robert Lewandowski.

Work towards freeing up the necessary funds to activate Williams’ Athletic Club release clause, in turn, have long been ongoing.

And, in the midst of as much, Barcelona are working hard to ensure that the player’s registration won’t prove an issue, either.

As per Gerard Romero of Jijantes, the board in Catalunya’s capital having been in constant contact with La Liga for several weeks now, drawing up a series of drafts of the contract set to be offered to Nico at the club.

Further developments in the saga are expected imminently.
