Barcelona’s pre-season preparations are in full swing right now as the club gear up for the upcoming tour to the United States.

There was much excitement over Ansu Fati, who had impressed in training and was looking to make a mark in the upcoming friendlies.

However, Fati’s hopes of making an impression suffered a massive blow as he recently picked up a foot injury in training, which could see him miss the upcoming US tour.

Sources close to the club have offered Barça Universal an update on Ansu Fati’s fitness as he looks to return to full fitness as soon as possible.

As per the update, Fati is hopeful of returning to full fitness before Barcelona’s season opener on August 17.

The Catalans are slated to take on Valencia in their first La Liga game of the season. But it must be noted that the club will play multiple friendlies heading into the season opener.

During the US tour, Barcelona will take on the likes of Manchester City, AC Milan and arch-rivals Real Madrid. Unfortunately for Fati, the attacker will miss out on this tour.

After returning from the US, Barcelona will face AS Monaco in the Joan Gamper trophy on August 11, roughly a week before the season opener.

It remains to be seen whether or not Fati can recover before the season opener, or even the Joan Gamper trophy final, for that matter.

But his recent injury is sure to land a huge blow on the attacker’s hopes of making an impact in pre-season.

Moreover, his knock serves as another reminder for Barcelona to be wary about the Spaniard’s poor fitness record, before they put their faith in the player for the season ahead.
