An insight into the plans of the powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona for the club’s iconic no.10 jersey has today been forthcoming.

The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, and points towards the shirt’s current owner continuing into next season.

The player in question? Ansu Fati.

The future of wide-man Ansu has of course long been up in the air.

Following an altogether underwhelming loan stint in England with Brighton & Hove Albion, the Spanish international has been hotly tipped for a 2nd successive Barcelona exit.

If the latest word doing the rounds on Tuesday is anything to go by, however, then such a move is beginning to look increasingly unlikely.

As per the aforementioned MD:

‘Barring a surprise, Ansu Fati will once again be Barça’s number ’10’ next season. The legendary number was not assigned after his loan to Brighton and now the striker will recover the number he inherited from Messi.’

As much would mean that youngster Lamine Yamal, widely speculated to take over ownership of the 10 jersey, will be forced, at least for the time being, to wait…
