Barcelona are set to take on Atalanta later tonight, in what will be their final game in the UCL league stage.

The Catalans are currently second in the overall standings, with six wins secured out of seven matches so far. Their most recent victory came against SL Benfica in an entertaining clash at Estadio da Luz.

Barcelona eyeing top spot

As relayed by Diario SPORT, Barcelona are now eyeing a top-spot finish in the UCL league phase ahead of their game against Atalanta.

While a comeback victory against Benfica guaranteed their spot in the Round of 16, Barça are looking to end the league stage on a high note, by finishing ahead of Liverpool.

The Reds currently occupy the top spot in the standings with seven wins in seven matches – the only team to retain a hundred percent winning record this season.

However, Barça do have an outside chance of topping the standings tonight, if Liverpool fail to secure a win against PSV Eindhoven.

Should Liverpool lose against the Dutch outfit, a win against Atalanta should be enough to secure the top spot, as the Catalans have a formidable goal difference.

While the chances of a Liverpool defeat against PSV are slim, it must be noted that Arne Slot has made a bold move by leaving nine of his regular starters out of the team.

It appears the Dutchman is considering the PSV tie as inconsequential, knowing they have already secured their place in the Round of 16 stage.

Keeping that in mind, Barça will certainly hope for a surprise result at the Philips Stadion tonight.
