At just 16 years of age, Lamine Yamal is already a household name thanks to his exploits with FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team.

A little over a year ago, the teenage sensation made his first-team debut for Barça, aged just 15, and has not looked back since.

Yamal enjoyed a spectacular breakthrough campaign in 2023/24, finishing with a tally of seven goals and ten assists – exceptional numbers for a player of his age in his first full season in senior football.

At the same time, Yamal also broke into the Spanish national team and is currently setting the stage on fire at the UEFA Euro 2024.

Golden Boy Award in the bag?

Considering how things are going for Lamine Yamal so far, everything indicates that the Barcelona wonderkid is locked in for the Golden Boy 2024 Award.

With one goal (a golazo vs France) and three assists for Spain at the Euros, the 16-year-old is in contention to win the Player of the Tournament award as well as the Young Player of the Tournament.

That success, coupled with his exceptional performances for Barcelona during the 2023/24 season, make Yamal the favourite to win the prestigious Golden Boy award for 2024.

The La Masia graduate was leading the race in the latest Golden Boy Benchmark Index published by Tuttosport, that awards the prestigious trophy.

The teenage sensation was ahead of players like Joao Neves (Benfica) and Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United).

Following his contributions in the days that have followed, it would be safe to assume that Yamal has strengthened his chances to win the Golden Boy award.
