Barcelona have found another rising star – could become the new ‘6’

The current edition of the Barcelona team is enamoured with young sensations such as Lamine Yamal, Gavi, Pau Cubarsi and Marc Bernal.

But there are many more La Masia stars waiting to make an impact. While the aforementioned players made the impact when Barcelona needed him the most, there are others who are following a different, slower path.

Pau Prim’s gradual rise to prominence

One of them is Pau Prim, who is regarded as one of the most talented midfielders in the youth team, reports Diario SPORT.

After being overshadowed by Bernal’s breakout season, Pau Prim found himself relegated to a secondary role in Rafa Marquez’s Barça Atletic squad last year.

Despite the challenges, the 18-year-old midfielder embraced his time with the Juvenil team, using it as an opportunity to develop his game and improve.

Now, under Albert Sanchez, Prim is shining as one of the leaders of Barça Atlètic, having played every minute of the season so far.

Barcelona’s new number six?

There are many indications Pau Prim could become the next big talent in the number six position for Barcelona.

“He is a Barça ‘6’ who understands positional play and positional profiles,” Sanchez said after the team’s 1-0 victory against Zamora.

It is apparent that the Barça Atletic coach rates Prim highly due to his positional sense, which is coupled with his technical efficiency – making him quite similar to someone like Bernal.

However, for now, the youngster must exercise patience. Despite his performances in the youth team, Hansi Flick has yet to call him to the first team.

But with only Marc Casado as a natural pivot in the senior squad and Eric Garcia more comfortable at centre-back, a first-team opportunity may not be far away for the rising star.
