Barcelona forward’s lack of minutes under Hansi Flick remains a mystery
Hansi Flick has ensured participation from every member of the squad. Indeed some players have played more than others but every individual in Catalonia is aware of the importance they hold in the team.
One young star who has not received as much attention as he would have liked, however, is Ansu Fati.
The La Masia graduate who spent last season on loan in the Premier League returned to work under Flick’s command this season.
Initial reports from pre-season stated that the manager highly rates the youngster and even saw him possibly as a striker. The course of the season, however, contradicts the observation.
A paradoxical situation
As revealed in a recent update on SPORT, Ansu’s situation in Catalonia is indeed queer and difficult to understand.
His lack of minutes under Flick is difficult to understand given how the manager has praised him over the months and spoken about how he was impressed by him in training.
Despite being fit for a few weeks now, he has only played two minutes against AS Monaco and did not even step on the field against Villarreal and Getafe.
There is clearly more to the story than what meets the eye, for the manager’s decision not to field Ansu despite the desperate need for rotations only implies that the player is either not fit or not good enough.
With three more games to be played before the next international break, it remains to be seen if Flick at least gradually incorporates the youngster into his dynamics. After all, this is certainly his final shot at succeeding at the club of his dreams.
