Barcelona fans beware: Highly-regarded youngster ‘still expected to leave’ this summer

A highly-regarded up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is, when all is said and done, expected to seal an exit from the club this summer.

That’s according to The Athletic, who point towards Mikayil Faye as the player in question.

The name of stopper Faye has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital for several months now.

This comes owing to widespread speculation surrounding the future of the Senegalese.

Amid something of a logjam at the heart of defence in Barcelona’s first-team setup, Deco and co. have seemingly identified Faye’s sale as something of a market opportunity.

Portuguese heavyweights Porto, in turn, are understood to have held extensive discussions over a potential deal for the youngster.

The track had gone somewhat quiet over the last couple of weeks, amid suggestions that new Blaugrana boss Hansi Flick was leaning towards keeping hold of Faye.

In turn, it will no doubt come as a blow to those of a Barca persuasion desperate to see the club’s defensive prodigy line out for their side at senior level to hear that, in fact, his sale still looks a strong possibility.

As per a report from The Athletic, as part of a deep dive into the situation at the back in Flick’s squad:

‘Mika Faye is still expected to leave this summer.’
