Barcelona’s planning for next season is taking shape. The Catalans are closely monitoring potential reinforcements while also assessing the future of their academy graduates.

Pau Victor and Mamadou Mbacke’s futures have become an intriguing point of discussion lately, following their impressive campaigns with Barça Atletic.

Both players are in similar situations, finishing their loans and being expected to return to their respective parent clubs. However, Barça are interested in negotiating their signings.

Reports have already claimed that Barça are in negotiations with Mbacke’s parent team, Los Angeles FC, and have successfully lowered the purchase option from €4 million to €2 million.

Pau Victor’s case

As for Pau Victor, according to SPORT, Barcelona had previously passed up on the option to sign him automatically for €3 million.

But the club had a change of heart and decided to negotiate with Girona after the youngster enjoyed an exceptional season.

Having joined Barça Atletic on loan, Pau Victor became the top scorer in the third division with 20 goals and showcased promising instincts as a centre-forward. As such, Barça want to bring him back, with Rafa Marquez also urging the club to do so.

Girona, who have Primera Division top scorer Artem Dovbyk, also possess Cristhian Stuani and have signed Abel Ruiz, making Pau Victor less essential to their squad.

However, Barcelona faces financial difficulties. While they are in the midst of negotiations with Girona, progress is being impeded by the salary cap.

As such, Oriol Romeu, Eric Garcia, and Pablo Torre are a few players who might be included in a transfer operation.

Pau Victor has drawn interest from the Spanish league and from abroad, but the youngster wants to stay with Barcelona and aspires to break through to the first team, ideally playing in pre-season under Hansi Flick.

Negotiations are now at an impasse and it remains to be seen if the situation can be unlocked.
