Barcelona can earn up to €8m as French defender eyes Juventus move

Owing to their weak financial condition, any kind of income is welcome that can help FC Barcelona get over their FFP problems and sign their desired targets in this summer transfer window.

Over the last few months, one possible source of income that has teased the Catalan club without actually materializing is from the sale of one of their former defenders, Jean Claire Todibo.

The Frenchman was linked with a move to Manchester United some months ago, with 20% of any fee paid for him to end up in Barcelona’s coffers, but this move ultimately fell off.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the French defender now wants a move to the Italian club, Juventus and has asked his agents to wait for an offer from the Old Lady at this stage.

Nice, the club which currently owns Todibo, is asking for €40 million for their star defender. Juventus can afford such a sum, but they are still waiting for Nice to lower this asking price to some extent.

Barcelona understand that they will earn 20% of any fee paid for him, and their earning can reach the €8 million mark from this potential operation.

Juventus will be looking forward to completing this deal as they need a defensive reinforcement for their squad this summer before their new coach, the former Barcelona midfielder Thiago Motta, starts his first season at the Italian club.

Todibo has impressed with his defensive performances over the last few seasons in Ligue 1 and also provided three assists in the last league campaign.

His speed, physicality, and aggressiveness have made him one of the most in-demand defenders in Europe. Although Barcelona do not need him in their squad due to an already crowded center-back position, they would still hope for his transfer to a new club this season, as it would significantly boost their finances.
