Barcelona defensive prodigy leads race for Golden Boy 2025
Barcelona’s dominance when it comes to prestigious awards for young players continued this year, thanks to the plaudits of Lamine Yamal.
The young Spaniard dominated the Ballon d’Or awards, winning the prestigious Kopa Trophy. He also won the Golden Boy 2024, becoming the youngest recipient of the award.
Yamal’s win continued Barcelona’s dominance in the Golden Boy Award, with Pedri winning in 2021 and Gavi winning in 2022.
Now, as things stand, Barcelona could once again be at the forefront in 2025, this time thanks to Pau Cubarsi.
Cubarsi leads the Golden Boy 2025 race
According to early trends revealed by Score 90, the Barcelona defensive prodigy is leading the race for Golden Boy 2025.
As per November trends, Cubarsi is the favourite to win the prestigious award which is given by the Italian Tuttosport newspaper.

Cubarsi, though, is expected to face stiff competition from other elite talents in Europe, including Warren Zaire-Emery.
The PSG midfielder occupies the second spot in the race, followed closely by Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo and soon-to-be Chelsea talent Estevao, who is currently on loan at Palmeiras.
Real Madrid starlet Arda Guler is fifth in the rankings. But the Turkish international arguably has the best chance of giving Cubarsi a run for his money.
That is because Guler’s stock has risen in recent weeks, thanks to a series of brilliant performances. As the season progresses, it won’t be surprising to see this race consolidate between Cubarsi and Guler.
