Barcelona dealt double transfer blow

La Liga giants Barcelona have late this week been dealt a double blow on the transfer front.

This comes amid confirmation that two of the club’s leading targets could well be primed to take their talents elsewhere with a view to next season.

First up comes João Félix.

Frontman Félix of course spent this past season on loan in Catalunya’s capital, with Barcelona having been hopeful of bringing the 24-year-old back for 2024/25, too.

However, as much is now looking increasingly unlikely, amid confirmation that Félix is ‘on the verge’ of a return to his home country, with Benfica.

As per Diario Sport:

‘João Félix is about to say goodbye to Barça. Atlético de Madrid and Benfica are very close to reaching an agreement on the transfer of the player and the operation will be closed if the player gives the OK upon his return to Portugal.’

And yet, the concerns of Deco and the Camp Nou transfer team do not end there.

This comes with a leading midfield target also potentially headed elsewhere on the continent.

Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has long been tipped to take his talents to Barca, having been earmarked as a priority option to fill the hole at the base of new boss Hansi Flick’s midfield.

However, as revealed by Mundo Deportivo:

‘According to Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain  are big fans of Kimmich and have joined the race to sign the German international.’

This will no doubt mark a major source of concern for Barcelona, in the knowledge that the French champions’ finances dwarf their own at this moment in time…
