The need of reinforcements is at an all-time high within FC Barcelona at the moment. However, for the Catalan giants to get their desired targets, sacrifices would have always been necessary for them to do so. At the moment, Barcelona are still struggling with one specific operation that means a lot to them.

Nico Williams, the 22-year-old star for both Athletic Club and Spain, remains the prized priority for FC Barcelona this summer. La Blaugrana have been tirelessly working to get his signing over the line, and have made numerous efforts in an attempt to persuade him.

One of those gestures was the confirmation of personal guarantees from the club to his entourage as well. These guarantees stated that his registration and release clause would not prove to be a problem, and all that Barcelona truly needs from the player is his agreement.

However, as things are starting to look less optimistic than they did before, doubts are beginning to rise. With PSG’s adamant interruption and Athletic Club’s hope to retain their player for another season, Barça are being pushed into a much more pragmatic position.

Yet, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants have not seen this as a sign to back off. Instead, FC Barcelona continues to work in silence as they attempt to persuade the €70 million-rated winger and his agent to ensure he joins the Catalan club.

Simultaneously, however, Barça is doing their best to not press on too much. The young winger is in a sensitive position at the moment and La Blaugrana know that if they push too much it may end up having an adverse impact rather than a favorable one for the team from Catalonia.

Yet, with the presence of some of the Athletic Club star’s closest friends being there at Barcelona, the five-time UCL winners are confident about landing the player as well.
