The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona are giving serious consideration to a high-profile summer sale, to open up the required funds for a game-changing double signing in attack.

That’s according to Barca insider Gerard Romero, who has provided a fresh insight into developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

It is of course the worst-kept secret in Spanish football at this point that Deco and his team of directors at the Camp Nou have long identified their no.1 summer transfer target.

The player in question? Nico Williams.

Efforts towards landing wide-man Williams at the earliest opportunity have long been in full swing in Barcelona, with it considered little more than a matter of time before the necessary funds are raised to activate the release clause in his contract with Athletic Club.

What has come as a major surprise, however, have been mounting claims over recent days that the Blaugrana, in their efforts to add to new head coach Hansi Flick’s options in the final third, are not content with only Nico.

The understanding is that the brass in Catalunya now want to bring in Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig, too.

Attacking midfielder Olmo has long been tipped as an alternative target to Williams, in the case of a deal for the latter proving too difficult to come by.

But, after seeing the pair link up with Lamine Yamal to such devastating effect at the European Championships, Barca are ready to get greedy, by seeking out deals for both.

And, as per the aforementioned Gerard Romero, they are willing to make serious sacrifices to fund as much.

Speaking on his official Twitch account, Jijantes’ Romero confirmed that, begrudgingly, a ‘significant’ sale is now being seriously considered by Joan Laporta and his team.

Though the identity of the player potentially on his way out of the Camp Nou is not revealed, all of Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha and Ronald Araújo are considered candidates.
