The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have not ruled out positioning themselves in the running for reinforcements during the January transfer window.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have confirmed that Barca boss Hansi Flick is keen on securing fresh blood in the middle of the park with a view to the 2nd half of the campaign.

Flick, it is claimed, is of the opinion that his options to back up the deep-lying pairing of Pedri and Marc Casadó are not sufficient.

With the German having informed the Camp Nou board of as much, Deco and co. are therefore weighing up all options for the winter window.

This includes the possibility of a loan signing in midfield.

As per Sport:

‘The club made the German see that in January the only possible option would be a loan, although this would also be a remote possibility due to problems with the salary cap.’

Should Barcelona address their wage situation over the days and weeks ahead, it is in turn not out of the question that a move for a new midfielder will be sanctioned.
