As the days go by, it becomes clear to see which players FC Barcelona can realistically pursue. Most of the cases that will eventually end up being abandoned would be due to financial reasons. However, football is not all about economics, and Barcelona is aware of this.

Some things transcend monetary valuations, and those can not be replicated regardless of whatever alternative is offered. That seems to be the case for Joshua Kimmich, the Bayern Munich midfielder who was considered a key target for new FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick this summer.

Ever since the news about Manchester City wanting Kimmich came out, a lot of skepticism began to build up from the perspective of Barcelona. Unfortunately, that skepticism seems to have been placed fairly given that the latest report about Kimmich shows real intent from him to join the Citizens.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the 29-year-old German midfielder would be thrilled to join Manchester City. This is mainly because of the fact that Pep Guardiola is still in charge of the Premier League champions, and his history with Kimmich is what compels the player towards the former Barcelona manager.

For Kimmich, Guardiola is the man who initially entrusted his place at Bayern back when the Spaniard used to coach at the Bavarian club. Under his guidance, Kimmich found his best version and cemented himself as one of the best players in the world in regards to his position.

Now, with Manchester City being more than open to signing him, a reunion with Guardiola is something he would welcome with open arms. MD has already reported that the player has instructed his representative to find a route to Manchester City, despite the interest from Barcelona that remains prevalent.

However, despite the fact that Bayern would not be looking to cause too many issues in Kimmich’s departure, Barcelona still cannot afford his signing.
