Barcelona sporting director Deco has this week provided an update on the future of the on-loan Vitor Roque.

Frontman Roque of course sealed a departure from Catalunya’s capital this past summer.

After a hugely challenging first six months on the books of Barcelona, the Brazilian international was allowed to link up with the Blaugrana’s La Liga rivals Real Betis, on a temporary basis.

Roque has since gone on to enjoy an altogether more productive time of things with Manuel Pellegrini’s side, sitting on a none-too-shabby five goals across the season to date.

With Betis boasting an option to make the deal a permanent one, it has in turn already been suggested that Roque’s time as a Barcelona player may have come to an end.

Speaking in an interview with Mundo Deportivo on Wednesday, the subject of as much was, in turn, put to the aforementioned Deco.

And, in his response, the Blaugrana sporting director went on to explain:

”We don’t make plans. The most important thing for him was to play. Vitor’s plan was to come this season and, if he couldn’t be registered through fair play, to loan him out for a season so he could get minutes. He is not to blame for coming in January, nor for who signed him. Vitor’s plan is the same as before, it hasn’t changed. If there was no fair play, and since he wasn’t one of the priority players to register, he was going to look for a loan so he could continue to grow in a club in La Liga or another league. That was the plan.”
