Barcelona boss Flick provides Marc Bernal & Pedri injury updates
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an immediate update on the wellbeing of midfield starlet Marc Bernal.
This comes, for those who missed it, after the 17-year-old was forced into a premature departure from Barca’s latest outing.
The Blaugrana are fresh off making it three wins from three to open the campaign.
After making the trip to Vallecas to take on Rayo Vallecano, goals on the part of Pedri and summer signing Dani Olmo proved enough for Flick’s troops to overcome a first-half deficit.
Barcelona, as a result, find themselves sitting pretty atop the La Liga table, with nine points from nine.
And yet, on an otherwise positive night’s work for the Catalans, one major source of concern, too, was forthcoming.
As much came inside the closing moments at Vallecas, when Marc Bernal went to ground under a challenge, left in evident distress on the turf.
The midfielder was helped from the field of play by the Barca medical staff following the full-time whistle, looking in considerable pain with what appeared to be a knee injury.
Speaking to the media post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Bernal’s wellbeing was quickly put to manager Hansi Flick.
And, in a concerning insight, Flick went on to confirm that:
“Nobody in the dressing room is happy. Marc Bernal’s situation doesn’t look good. We’ll wait for the tests tomorrow.”
*Update* – Regarding Pedri, who was also hooked from the clash shortly after being on the receiving end of a heavy challenge, Barcelona’s boss added that the Spanish international is ‘fine’.
