Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an explanation for the absence of star frontman Robert Lewandowski from his side which faced off with Real Betis.

Barca are of course fresh off a 2nd successive five-goal haul on Wednesday night.

En route to as much, however, the aforementioned Lewandowski played no part.

Whilst Raphinha and Lamine Yamal maintained their respective places in attacker, striker Lewandowski was left to watch on from the bench for the entirety of the 90 minutes.

Speaking to the media in the fixture’s aftermath, the subject of the Pole’s absence from his XI was in turn put to the aforementioned Hansi Flick.

And Flick went on to explain:

“When Szczęsny doesn’t play, neither does Lewandowski! No, just kidding, rest only!” *laughs*
