Barcelona announce & then delete double transfer departure
The latest social media activity on the part of La Liga giants Barcelona has turned heads on Sunday afternoon.
This comes after the Blaugrana, first, announced three exits from the club’s first-team ranks.
The trio in question? João Félix, João Cancelo, and Marcos Alonso.
In a post across their X account and official website, Barca confirmed that:
‘Marcos Alonso, João Félix and João Cancelo are not to continue with FC Barcelona’. As much, of course, comes after the terms of the trio in Catalunya’s capital came to an official close.
🚨🔵🔴 Barcelona also say goodbye to João Cancelo: “João Félix and João Cancelo are not to continue with FC Barcelona”.
“The Spanish defender's contract ends on June 30, as do the loan contracts for the two Portuguese players, who will return to their respective clubs”. pic.twitter.com/9HNOJdwjW9— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) June 30, 2024
Those of a Blaugrana persuasion, as a result, have since been left altogether confused by the ensuing removal of the post at hand.
After the statement was deleted, a replacement was soon forthcoming, featuring only the name of Marcos Alonso.
This comes amid the understanding that, whilst their respective loan stints with the club have now technically come to an end, Barcelona remain hopeful of bringing the two João’s back for next season.
New boss Hansi Flick, for his part, has already given the green light to as much.
Aaaaaaaand Barça delete any mention of the Joãos 🤣 https://t.co/FLAxKSwsJF
