As Hansi Flick gears up for the start of Barcelona’s pre-season on July 10, he is expected to take a host of young players under his wing.

Youngster Noah Darvich is already set to train with the first team, but following the departure of Marc Guiu to Chelsea, Barcelona may have room for another young attacker.

Everything suggests that the attacker is going to be Angel Alarcon – a 20-year-old winger who made a solid impression at Barça Atletic last season.

Alarcon to train with first-team

According to Mundo Deportivo, Angel Alarcon will join Barcelona’s pre-season campaign from July 10.

Alarcon is a valued talent due to his ability to operate on both flanks. In addition, the forward has speed and is an efficient finisher – making him an appealing option for Barcelona boss Hansi Flick.

Alarcon appeared in five competitive matches for Barcelona during the 2022/23 season. Although he was not able to score a goal, the forward did raise eyebrows with his speed and versatility in the final third.

Injuries meant that he did not receive an opportunity in the season gone by.

A replacement for Marc Guiu?

Aware of his abilities, Hansi Flick is likely to employ Angel Alarcon as a potential replacement for Guiu, who joined Chelsea on a cut-price deal this summer.

Although Alarcon is not a frontline striker like Guiu, the youngster certainly has the ability to make an impact in the final third.

Given Barcelona’s lack of trusted option in attack, Alarcon may have a glorious chance to impress Hansi Flick this summer.

It must be remembered that a certain Fermin Lopez had made a solid impression in pre-season last summer and was subsequently promoted to the first team.

Angel Alarcon will be looking to follow the same path this summer, though he may have a series of competitors within the ranks of Barcelona’s youth setup.
