According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, the relationship between Sergi Roberto and Barcelona has officially come to an end. The club veteran is all set to leave the club for sure, and there is no turning back.

It must be noted that as of now, Roberto is already a free agent. His contract with Barcelona ended on June 30, and since then, he has been without a team as he had been holding out, hoping that Barcelona would offer him a new deal.

Previously, it was reported that Roberto had attracted interest from several top clubs. Aston Villa and West Ham United, both from the Premier League, have shown interest in him.

Additionally, the Dutch club Ajax have also been keeping an eye on the experienced midfielder.

Before Roberto made his decision to leave, it was mentioned that Barcelona’s Sporting Director, Deco, personally contacted the player.

Deco tried to make sure that Barcelona’s offer was still under consideration, but he could not offer any guarantees about Roberto’s status with the team.

In recent weeks, there was talk about Roberto’s strong desire to stay at Barcelona. Despite having several offers from other teams, Roberto hesitated to accept any of them.

He was still hoping to continue his career at Barcelona, showing his loyalty and commitment to the club he has been a part of for so long.

However, the situation has now changed significantly. The 32-year-old midfielder has decided to end his time with Barcelona and is ready to move on.

The chapter with Barcelona is now officially closed for Roberto, and he will be starting a new chapter in his career with a different team.

This could come in the form of a move to the Premier League where there are plenty of suitors, including Arsenal. However, as of today, the veteran has not decided on anything but a decision can be expected soon.
