‘And their barbecue sucks.’ Baltimore fans hate KC after Royals’, Chiefs’ playoff wins

It’s been a bad year for Baltimore sports fans, and teams from Kansas City have had a lot to do with that.

The Chiefs dashed the Ravens’ Super Bowl hopes in January with a 17-10 win in the AFC Championship Game in Baltimore. And this week, the Orioles’ season came to a crashing end at the hands of the Royals.

With 1-0 and 2-1 wins, the Royals swept the Orioles in Baltimore in an AL Wild Card series. That’s three one-score playoff losses at the hands of Kansas City teams, all in Baltimore, and fans have had enough.

Some in “Charm City” took to social media to share their contempt for Kansas City’s teams. Here is a sample of what was being said on X and Reddit.

“So tired of losing to KC. I can’t take it. Lamar/King Henry you are my only hope,” a fan wrote on Reddit.

Another offered up this: “Kansas City’s not a real place, and their barbecue sucks.”

A fan wrote on Reddit: “It’s embarrassing I don’t even interact with KC fans, they absolutely have our number and I can’t talk any smack...”

It’s actually worse for this person: “Orioles/Bills fan here. I’m about to lose it.”

Social media win, too

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the Royals’ social media team, which dunked on the Orioles following the wild-card series. To be fair, the Orioles brought it on themselves with this X message.

The Royals’ response was perfect and even one Orioles fan had to admit it.
