Bank On Shane Pinto Staying Hot, Senators Topping Leafs in High-Scoring Battle of Ontario

Saturday is the best night of the week for hockey and is the ultimate opportunity for NHL fans, with a stacked slate of thrilling matchups that fans eagerly anticipate. The game that sticks out is the Battle of Ontario between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators in the nation's capital.

For bettors, this matchup provides a chance to capitalize on some of our recent strong trends, like our 21-10 record on our last 31 picks and our 17-8 record on our last 25 player prop picks.

All betting lines are from Bet365 and are subject to change. Hockey is a difficult sport to predict so please gamble responsibly.

Maple Leafs vs Senators Best Bets:

  • Over 5.5 goals (-115)

  • Senators ML (-110)

  • Shane Pinto Over 0.5 points (+130)

  • Bobby McMann Over 0.5 points (-115)

The Leafs defence has started to decline after their epic start to the season with a 3.50 goals against average over their last ten games. During that same span, their offence has stayed lively with captain Auston Matthews leading the way with nine goals and six assists for 15 points. His winger, Mitch Marner, has been even hotter with a pair of goals and 14 assists for 16 points during the ten-game hot streak on offence. They look to keep their foot on the gas in a big matchup versus one of their biggest rivals in the Senators.

Ottawa will be desperate for a win as they've been shut out in each of their last two games, where they were outscored seven to zero. In their last matchup versus Toronto earlier this season, they were able to shut out the Leafs for a 3-0 victory. It marked their third straight win over the Leafs but they haven't found the same success when playing at home in this matchup as they've lost four of their last five games.

I expect them to change the tide in this one as two straight shutouts will certainly give them the motivation to edge out a hard fought win. It should be a high-scoring game with Ottawa and Toronto combining six or more goals in eight of their last 11 matchups. The Leafs won't make it easy as they've won six of their last seven road games but their road defence has struggled with ten of their last 13 road games totalling six or more goals.

The Senators will need a big game out of Shane Pinto, who has been one of their only productive forwards as of late with a pair of goals and four assists for six points in his last eight games. Toronto will likely respond with a healthy dose of Bobby McMann, who is expected to fill Matthew Knies spot on the top line with Matthews and Marner. McMann has been fairly hot as well with a goal and three assists for a point-per-game average over his last four games.
