Ballon d’Or winner Marco Van Basten blasts Roma target Devyne Rensch: “He has no footballing ability whatsoever.”

Three-time Ballon d’Or winner Marco Van Basten did not take it easy on Devyne Rensch who is being linked with a move to Roma.

In light of the rumors suggesting Rensch wants out of Ajax in favor of a transfer to the Italian capital, Van Basten criticized the 21-year-old footballer in a recent appearance on ZiggoSport.

“I think he is easily replaceable. With all due respect, he is not a particularly good player.”

“He has no footballing ability whatsoever. With the ball, he has no ideas. Without the ball, he always makes mistakes. He makes one mistake per game.”

“He seems like a friendly guy, but for the level of Ajax he is not up to par.”

Van Basten’s declarations came a day after Ajax director Iex Kroes said of Rensch: “I think Devyne is a difficult player to replace. He’s a good player. In short: we want to keep him.”
