Before suffering the injury, Makar had scored eight goals and led all rookies with 28 points in 29 games. Makar is a major reason why the Avalanche are considered a leading contender for the Stanley Cup, and has exceeded the considerable hype he received after being selected No. 4 overall in the 2017 NHL Draft.
In many regards, Makar has emerged as the embodiment of the modern defenceman, boasting incredible poise, intelligence, puck skills, shooting and skating ability. Unless your favourite team is facing the Avalanche, Makar’s return to the lineup is a treat for all hockey fans.
