Auxerre in advanced talks to sign PSV’s Frederik Oppegard

AJ Auxerre enjoyed a spectacular start to the season, vanquishing any notions of a season-long relegation battle and instead launching an unlikely assault on the European places. However, their progress has somewhat halted in recent weeks and, after a 1-1 draw with AS Saint-Étienne, have failed to win any of their last seven Ligue 1 games.

Looking to breathe fresh life into their season, Auxerre are looking to dip into the transfer market this month. The signing of a left-back has been a priority for L’AJA and L’Équipe understands that they are in advanced talks to sign Frederik Oppegard (22) from PSV Eindhoven.

The Norwegian full-back has found game time hard to come by since being signed from Valerenga back in 2022. This season, he has made six appearances in the Eredivisie, including three starts. However, his contract expires at the end of the season and so Auxerre are now looking to secure Oppegard’s signature on the cheap.
