NAT068 – (Lost-Canadians)
OTTAWA. x–22s. Immigration Minister Marc Miller tabled legislation today intended to extend citizenship to some children born outside of the country. The Conservative government changed the law in 2009 so that Canadian parents who were born abroad could not pass down their citizenship, unless their child was born in Canada. Miller says the legislation is an effort to grant citizenship rights to those known as “Lost Canadians.”
