NAT047 – (Mba-Remains-Buffalo-Woman)
WINNIPEG. x–07s. A Winnipeg murder trial has heard the exhaustive efforts police have undertaken to try and identify one of the victims of a serial killer. It’s been more than two years since the unidentified woman was killed by Jeremy Skibicki (skih-BITS’-kee), and police have been unable to name the woman or recover her remains. D-N-A found on a jacket believed to have belonged to her is the only evidence pointing to her identity. Sandra DeLaronde, who’s an Indigenous advocate, says the woman who has been given the name Buffalo Woman represents the larger issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
